A REIKI TREATMENT

A Reiki Treatment is a hands-on process that allows healing, balancing energy to be transferred through the practitioner to another person, an animal, a plant, or the practitioner's own body. The hands of the practitioner are placed in specific patterns on the body, the head, the upper body (from neck to pelvic area) and the back (from the shoulders to the tailbone) while the client lies fully clothed on a bodywork table or seated comfortably in some cases. No substances are applied to the body. Although the focus is on the major organs, the energy will reach and benefit every cell in the body and to where it is most needed. Reiki can be given to all ages.

In addition to the formal positions, Reiki can be applied to any part of the body that has been injured. Reiki works through bandages and casts and can even be transmitted from a distance. Reiki can relieve pain and acute symptoms quite rapidly while chronic problems may require more extensive treatment. A full Reiki treatment usually takes an hour, however, the length depends upon the amount of energy needed to balance and revitalize the ailing part of the body. Reiki is very successful in emergency situations. Currently Reiki is used in hospitals (1) before surgery to relax the patient and reduce pain and (2) after surgery to speed up the healing process as well as to alleviate pain (3) in nursing homes to help patients adjust to their new setting and come to grips with their loss of independence and many other issues associated with later life stages.
