COMPASSIONATE TOUCH for Those in Later Life Stages™ TREATMENT
A
Compassionate
Touch for Those in Later Life Stages™ treatment involves one-on-one attention, extensive eye
contact, patient-centered conversation, and may include
hand-holding, back and shoulder relaxation, or the application
of lotion to the extremities, and a keen ear for listening. By
supplying specifically those aspects of interpersonal
interaction often missing in the lives of long-term facility
residents, COMPASSIONATE TOUCH for Those in Later Life Stages™ allows the patients to feel
valued, increases their communication with others, and
encourages the release of endorphins (the body’s natural pain
manager), thus ameliorating pain and enhancing feelings of
well-being.
A
Compassionate
Touch for Those in Later Life Stages™ treatment is as unique as the individual for each session
unfolds according to the needs of the individual at that
particular time. The practitioner comes to each session without
an agenda, but rather with a bag of opportunities for change on
numerous levels: physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. While
one person might enjoy the practitioner to accompany her/him on
a walk around the grounds, another might need a listener who
offers neither judgment nor opinions, and still another might
find great value in simply holding hands.
The length of a
COMPASSIONATE TOUCH for Those in Later Life Stages™ session can vary from 20-25 minutes or
longer depending on the needs of the individual. Many elderly or
ill can receive a days worth of benefits from a 20 minute
session. There are no contraindications for Compassionate
Touch for Those in Later Life Stages™.
